I also wanted to add that from a sound perspective (the important bit) they are very dynamic with a nice tight punchy bass, they have excellent staging (one of the best I've heard on any headphone including £1000 plus). Great detail and separation of instruments and not overly bright like the Grado's which can get very fatiguing on extended listening. They sound to my ears pretty honest and accurate. The only downside is maybe the ear pads could have a bit more cushioning.

Very Impressed
I've worked in radio and music for 30 years at the highest level, my normal headphone would be the Beyer DT150 for studio use. I fancied a change and on the advice of these guys I went for the little known brand shown here. My god they are fantastic, for a sub 150 quid headphone they are fantastic, in fact for a more expensive one they are fantastic. I was auditioning some Grado cans today that were 5 times as expensive and not as good. Same goes for my Sennheiser HD600 which sound flat and dull by comparison on my home system which is very hi-end audiophile. I've been looking for an alternative to my HD600's for time and I think I might just have found them, I intend to try a pair of the German Maestro open backs which are still sub £200. The build quality is stunning, I can see these easily taking the daily punishment headphones get in the studio. The guys at HiFi Headphones gave very honest, solid advice. I was happy to pay more but they said I didn't need to and they were right, but now of course I will come back and also introduce all my radio colleagues to German Maestro.

German Maestro GMP 8.35 D Monitor Headphone (Electronics)
These headphones rock! I did a lot of research on a lot of the higher end headphones such as K271 and these took the prize.
The sound is very clear and crisp. The lows/mids/highs are very well balanced. The headphones feel very light on my head and I've been using them for long hours in my home studio. The bass sounds great, could feel it very well, the mid and highs are smooth to listen to, did I say how well balanced they are, lol. The price although a little high for your average headphone buyer, it is actually very low for how well these headphones perform. These headphones out perform headphones that cost 3X the amount as the German Maestro's do. Although the look of the headphones is not like many headphones, I actually like the old school/industrial type design. The HP's have a very strong feel to them and they don't feel like they will be falling apart in 2,3,4… years down the road as long as you take decent care of them. If your in the market for some real German made headphones and not some junk Chinese imitation headphones, then these in my opinion are a great buy.

German Maestro GMP 8.35 D Monitor Headphone (Electronics)
These headphones were given as a gift (for christmas), so I have not listened to them for long, but I am pleased with what I hear. They do not have noise-canceling technology like other headphones, but this is not necessarily a problem. Many noise canceling headphones, as well as other noise-isolating ones (such as the Monster Cables Beats headphones), so there is no worry of batteries. However, these headphones do have minor blocking of ambient sounds, but it is not anything substantial. When the headphones are at about half volume, someone will have to poke you instead of saying your name to gain attention.
In my experience, headphone companies like to charge an obscene amount of money by making their headphones with fancy designs, and impress listeners with a huge amount of bass that can drown out the other range of sounds. These headphones create a "flat" sound (by this, I mean the frequencies are all the same volume), which attests to their studio quality.
These headphones also can get very loud. When plugged into a standard 3.5mm jack these headphones get LOUD! (There is also a removable 1/4" jack) At full volume, there is an audible hiss, but only when there is a quiet part of the song. And I don't know why someone would want to put these at full volume, because it would nearly deafen them.
All in all, these headphones are a serious purchase. They do not have fancy designs, materials (the outside is flat plastic and faux leather), but they do deliver a sound quality good for their price. These headphones will do great in a studio or live music atmosphere (though there are other models that are more specialized to DJ and live music applications).
On a side note, these headphones advertise the frequency response of up to 27,000 hz. This is a little excessive, because the human ear can only hear to about 20,000. This is an unnecessary number to take in to account with the higher end headphones because all of them give a wide frequency.

German Maestro GMP 8.35 D Monitor Headphone (Electronics)
I know these don't look like much, but give them a try. I have many studio headphones, and these are my favorite by far. The sound is very balanced, crisp and clear. Bass is tight and controlled, but not over-emphasized. They are also very comfortable to me, and seem indestructible. Not much more to say about them, except that I am so impressed, I am looking into open headphones from this manufacturer. My highest recommendation.

German Maestro GMP 8.35 D Monitor Headphone (Electronics)
I got these headphones as a gift and they are wonderful! The sound is clear and crisp! Well worth getting!
For the past few years, I've been searching for some good closed monitor headphones. The most important things for me were to find headphones that were balanced and had low impedence. When I saw the German Maestro GMP 8.35 D Monitor (previously MB Quart). I decided to take a chance with them, since I already owned the MB Quart QP 250 and was very happy with them. The day I got the GMP 8.35 D…what a HUGE surprise!!! Monitor headphones, INDEED!! From the first moment that I plugged them into my soundcard, they just sounded perfectly balanced with a lot of power. The low is really warm and the bass is just enough to really pump the kick and the sub bass. And they do create the air of the sub feeling, which is really important to me as an electronic music producer. The highs are great. The percussion, snare, high hats, the whole drum section has such clear details with smooth highs, it really surprised me! Let's say it like this: they are more balanced than the K271, they are more bass controlled and with more open highs than the M 50 and they are not as aggressive as my previous Ultrasones, which I do love a lot. So, for me, this is the best combination for closed monitor headphones.
It's somewhere between the RS1 and the K271. I would consider it to be more of a forward sound stage, especially compared to my K 702. And this was exactly what I needed; a closed studio monitor headphone that I could really monitor the early stages of my mixes with a lot of warm, tight bass. They are not super fast and not laid back. They're steady, along the lines of the AKG, especially when I need a lot of dynamic pressure. At 35 ohms, the can be considered field monitors for DJ's and professional use, as in movie production, tv, etc. They can also work as portable cans for mp3 players or directly from the computer soundcard, more like a multi purpose monitor headphones. They don't really need an amp, but to plug them into my soundcard, I can just hear everything more clearly and the frequencies are more extended, especially at 24 bit.
They are really, really strong headphones. As the company advertises, they are "unbreakable". They look like they would be sweaty headphones, but they are not. They become warm after 30-40 minutes, but I have had long sessions with these and my ears didn't get hot and sweaty, as with some other brands, which will go unnamed for now. And yes, the insulation is some of the best that I've experienced. With the volume at just at 50%, I couldn't hear anything from the person who was talking next to me. This is probably a result of the interesting construction of the pad.
Now, a few interesting things about these headphones. It was a little suspicious for me that they sounded so good, right out of the box, so I have been using them daily, and listening for subtle changes as a result of the burn in process, but NADA! They sound just as good today as they did 2 weeks ago and that just really surprised me, so I contacted the company and asked about the burn in time. And I also asked about the driver size. This is what Thomas, the representative of the company had to say about it:
"You should not expect any differences in sound while a longer using time because there are no parts in the headphones mounted where the material become smoother.
The headphone system hasn't any spider like an "normal" speaker where you note some changes after "Burn-In". The voice-coil (diameter 18mm) is mounted direct on the special formed cone with effective diameter of ~38mm. The cone is made of an special plastic-foil."
I was really curious about the FR, so he was kind enough to also send me the graph as well. The graph confirmed my 8.35 D Monitor sound perception.
So, yeah…"SERIOUS ABOUT AUDIO"…indeed, they are VERY serious about audio, as I would have expected from a German company
